U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has introduced a proposal aimed at enhancing wealth-building opportunities for Black men. The plan includes protections for those who invest in crypto. The proposal, titled the “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men,” comes as Harris and her team seek to engage Black voters less than a month before the upcoming presidential election.
About Kamala Harris’ Crypto Plan
According to Kamala Harris’ plan, over 20% of Black Americans have owned or currently own crypto. Moreover, Harris’ campaign stressed that the vice president sees digital assets as an opportunity for expanding access to financial services.
“Vice President Harris appreciates the ways in which new technologies can broaden access to banking and financial services,” her team said. They emphasized the need for a robust regulatory framework that ensures Black men and other participants in the crypto market are safeguarded.
“She will make sure owners of and investors in digital assets benefit from a regulatory framework so that Black men and others who participate in this market are protected,” her team added.
In addition to crypto regulations, Harris’ proposal includes other measures to uplift Black men economically. The plan includes fully forgivable loans, up to $20,000, for one million Black entrepreneurs seeking to start businesses. She also plans to launch a health initiative specifically aimed at addressing issues affecting Black men and intends to push for the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Polymarket Sees Shift in Election Odds
This isn’t the first time Harris has spoken about crypto assets. Last month, she outlined plans in her 80-page economic strategy, highlighting her support for emerging technologies such as AI and digital assets while prioritizing consumer and investor protections.
After the recent announcement by the Kamala Harris campaign, Polymarket bettors have shown a shift. According to Polymarket data, the U,S, VP is making a comeback with 45.7% odds of winning. However, Trump is still leading with 53% chances of win.
