Bengaluru: Mohammed Haris Nalapad, Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee president and son of Shantinagar MLA NA Haris, Wednesday appeared before Criminal Investigation Department sleuths investigating the Bitcoin scam. He entered CID headquarters around 3pm and appeared before deputy inspector general of police Vamsi Krishna. Nalpad was questioned for over four hours.CID’s special investigation team is probing multiple cases relating to the 2020 Bitcoin scam and Haris was summoned in one of the cases registered in Cottonpet in November 2020. The case pertains to hacking of Bitcoin accounts and ransomware attacks on websites. Police sources said the accused arrested in the case, including prime suspect Srikrishna alias Sriki, had in their statements named Nalapad as an acquaintance. “Some of the accused had repeatedly taken Nalapad’s name. We called him Wednesday to check whether he is a beneficiary in the case or not,” sources said.
