The Congress leaders had alleged that several BJP leaders were involved in the scam and had demanded a judicial probe in the case. The BJP leaders denied the allegations and demanded Congress release proof for their claims.
Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Wednesday, June 14 said that the government will review the alleged Bitcoin scam that reportedly took place during the previous BJP government.
The Congress leaders had led a persistent campaign about the alleged scam even demanding the then Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s resignation and sought a judicial probe in the matter.
Speaking to reporters outside his residence in Bengaluru, Parameshwara said, the government will review the alleged Bitcoin scam.
“We are in the government now and we are unearthing all the details including the Bitcoin scam. I am reexamining the Bitcoin case. It’s not even been a month since we came to power and the Opposition has started dancing now itself. Let them be patient, we will tell them what we are doing. All ministers will review the work and wherever necessary we will review all the scams,” G Parmeshwara said.
The Bitcoin scam came to the fore in 2021 when Basavaraj Bommai was the Chief Minister. The prime suspect Srikrishna Ramesh alias Sriki was accused of hacking the e-procurement site of the state government and siphoning over Rs 11.5 crore.
Sriki was arrested by the police and was released on bail in a few days. There has been no progress in the case so far.
The Congress leaders had accused the involvement of several BJP leaders in the case, but no documents were released to prove the allegations.
