08 September 2023- Franklin County PSP Troopers are investigating a reported theft of over $1,500 from a location on Clearfield Road in Southampton Township earlier this summer. Troopers were dispatched around 7:30pm on August 24th and contacted the 29 year old male victim.
Troopers classify the incident as theft by deception, meaning the victim was deceived into handing over the $1,570 in the form of cash or money transfer. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP-Chambersburg.
Over $50,000 worth of damage is being reported to a Franklin County golf course during an incident earlier this summer. Troopers say that on August 1st around midnight Greencastle Golf Club on Castlegreen Drive, Antrim Township, was vandalized.
Not much information is available at the current moment but Troopers say approximately $50,000 worth of damage was done to the putting green area on the property. Anyone with information should contact PSP- Chambersburg.
PSP Troopers were called to the area of Path Valley Road and School Road in Fannett Township earlier this summer for a reported single vehicle crash. Upon arrival around 11pm on August 16th, Troopers allegedly found that there was no crash after all.
However, Troopers made the determination that the driver of a 2005 Chevy Equinox was under the influence in the vehicle assumed to have had an accident. That woman, a 47 year old from Neelyton, PA, was arrested for DUI.
Police say a 47 year old Chambersburg man was cited for disorderly conduct after an incident in the parking lot of the Chambersburg Area School District Administration parking lot. Troopers responded to the building around 11:30pm on August 31st to find Joshua Hankiewicz, 47, of Chambersburg, burning a torn up t-shirt in the parking lot.
No real damage was found to be done to the lot but the incident caused a disturbance to the public, resulting in the charges.
A Mercersburg man is looking at felony fleeing an officer charges after a chase on Buchanan Trail earlier this month. Troopers from PSP-McConnellsburg say they tried to initiate a traffic stop on a 2017 Ford Focus driven by Leigham Bard, 22, of Mercersburg around 12:45am on September 4th.
After emergency lights were initiated, Bard allegedly fled the scene and continued at high speed from officers for about three miles. Crashing into multiple trees and ending the chase, Bard was taken into custody on charges of fleeing and eluding as well as DUI.
A crypto fraud scheme that affected two Waynesboro residents is said to have scammed them out of over $112,000. Police say that between May 3rd and May 31st of this year the 60 year old male and 63 year old female victims were the victims of a theft by decetption.
While the nature of the theft was not initially disclosed by PSP, Troopers say the victims lost $112,525 worth of an unspecified crypto currency. PSP are investigating.
Troopers have formally cited the Tractor Supply Company in Mercersburg as a result of an investigation into their security system. Police were dispatched just before midnight on September 2nd to the store location on Fort Loudon Road for a burglary alarm.
Through the investigation, the alarm was determined to be false. Authorities say that between September 24th, 2022 and September 2nd, 2023 the store had 18 false alarms and was subsequently cited for the numerous violations.
