Viral clicker game Hamster Kombat has announced that its native HMSTR token will soon be listed on leading crypto exchange Bybit.
The news comes as Animoca co-founder and chairman Yat Siu calls Telegram mini games a “Trojan Horse” for Web3 adoption.
Hamster Kombat said in a Sept. 3 post on X that the project’s token will be listed on Bybit, which is a top 5 crypto exchange platform.
Animoca Co-Founder Believes Telegram Mini Apps Will Catalyze Web3 Adoption
In a recent interview with Coin Telegraph, Animoca’s Siu said that Hamster Kombat is part of the “first generation” of games that will enable large-scale adoption of the Web3 industry.
Platforms such as Telegram and the TON (The Open Network) blockchain serve as a gateway for mass adoption because of their minimal restrictions, Siu added. Both of these platforms have opened up “distribution vectors” that did not previously exist as Apple, Google, Facebook and Steam won’t allow creators to publish games similar to Hamster Kombat, he added.
Siu’s comments come after players flocked to Hamster Kombat in recent months. By the end of July, the Telegram mini app boasted over 300 million players. The game is also reportedly the third-fastest app globally to reach 150 million users.
New Date For Token Distribution Event Announced
One major reason behind the frenzy around Hamster Kombat is the team’s announcement that in-game credits will be redeemable through a crypto token airdrop. The team promises that HMSTR’s token distribution will be the “largest airdrop in the history of crypto.”

Initially scheduled for the end of July, HMSTR’s airdrop was delayed due to the complexity of coordinating all of the platforms involved, according to the team.
Although there is still no specific date set for the token distribution event on Hamster Kombat’s website, the game’s team told investors and followers in an Aug. 28 X post that the airdrop will happen on Sept. 26.
