Fraud: Sprague Road
A Sprague Road man, 36, was defrauded of $25,000 through an internet bitcoin scam.
The man told police June 17 he had been trading cryptocurrency online when he discovered a Twitter account called CryptoKaleo. That account led him to a crypto trading guide. He spoke with the trader with the CryptoKaleo account and started copying his trades.
After a while, CryptoKaleo stopped responding to the man so he returned to Twitter and followed another trader with an account called Credibull Crypto. He began following and speaking with the trader.
The Credibull Crypto trader advised the man to place more and more money into an app called StacksRobin. After depositing a total of $25,000 into the account, the account balance mysteriously dropped to $0.
Theft: Pearl Road
A Cleveland man, 19, stole two cell phones, together valued at about $2,400, from an AT&T store at 6852 Pearl.
The man walked into the store at about 8 p.m. June 22 and said he wanted to buy two iPhone 15 Pro Max phones. A worker placed the phones on the counter and took the man’s identification card to check his background.
As the worker looked at her computer screen, the man snatched the phones off the counter, ran out of the store, jumped into a Hyundai Tucson and drove away.
Police looked up the man’s photo on their computer and the AT&T worker confirmed his identity.
Shoplifting: Pearl Road
Two unidentified women stole at least two shopping carts of merchandise at about 7:30 p.m. June 14 from Bath & Body Works, 6861 Pearl.
The Bath & Body Works manager saw the women run out of the store, pushing the carts to their Jeep. They loaded the merchandise into the vehicle and drove away.
The manager snapped a picture of the Jeep’s license plate number.
Theft: Rosbough Drive
A catalytic converter was stolen between noon June 19 and 10 a.m. June 20 from a Ford Escape parked outside Extended Stay America, 17552 Rosbough.
Theft: Engle Road
A catalytic converter was stolen between early morning June 19 and 8 p.m. June 23 from a Ford Escape parked outside Crowne Plaza, 7230 Engle.
Drug paraphernalia possession: Engle Road
A Cleveland man, 22, was cited at about 11 a.m. June 22 after police caught him with a broken glass pipe containing burned residue.
The man was a passenger in a car police had pulled over on Engle because the car’s window tint was too dark.
