ZachXBT Crypto Scam Investigation on Big-Time YouTuber Blue
ZachXBT published some information about the YouTuber, claiming that he was a perpetrator in a number of heists. The sleuth alleges that Blue began his involvement in crypto scams in 2021.
Blue primarily focused on gaming and prank content on his YouTube channel, and it experienced substantial growth in 2020.
He also runs a Discord server, where he talks about profitable scams and the acquisition of a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT.
ZachXBT states that Blue used the stolen funds to purchase items ranging from cars to Roblox assets.
Evidence of Blue’s Monkey Drainer Association
As evidence, ZachXBT posted a Snapchat post that linked him to an Ethereum ENS address called cool-breeze.eth. Upon further investigation, ZachXBT said that the address was used to obtain Bored Ape Yacht Club 8668 NFT in October 2022.
ZachXBT then noticed inflows topping 85 ETH. This amount represents approximately a third of the stolen funds. One can trace it back to addresses associated with Monkey Drainer phishing scams.
The sleuth also posted images from the Discord service as evidence of the involvement in scams. ZachXBT claims that the primary method of scamming involved spamming Twitter with verified accounts.
Monkey Drainer is a notorious service in the crypto market, which was actually ordered to shut down in March 2023. Billed as a Scam as a Service, it facilitates crypto scams, taking a 30% cut from attackers who use its drainer contract.
One of the most significant attacks involving Monkey Drainer took place last year. A project lost over 700 ETH in October 2022. Scams continue to haunt the market. While Monkey Drainer’s shutdown will bring some relief, they continue to be an issue.
Wallet provider MetaMask has cautioned users to be vigilant after it reported that users had been receiving phishing emails.
